Everyone used to give me advice as to how to back up my computer in case of a disaster, telling me that I needed a Emergency Backup plan . I had experienced my computer crashing before , but I was able to get a full Data Backup Services all I had to do was take the hard dive out and transfer the information to another computer . It ended up being a very expensive process but it saved all of my files . I hadn’t even needed to save anything to disc.
I was naïve until one day the worst thing possible that could have happened did .
I finally published a novel last year and it was great since years and years of hard work went into it. My publisher asked me to sign a contract for 2 more books. I was working on the rewrite of the second late at night when there was a power surge and everything blacked out all around the neighborhood. I’m hardly afraid of the dark and had some flashlights so I figured I’d be all right. The entire novel was saved on my hard drive so I figured that once the power came back on I would be ok . I wish I had had some type of Disaster Recovery for my Data Storage due to the fact that not only was my entire novel erased but everything that I have ever written disappeared as well .
Yeah, it smarted and I’m not ashamed to admit that I actually cried, but there wasn’t anything to be done.
The next day, I started all over again and, hopefully, the manuscript will be even better this time around. But I am never letting that happen to me again. What sucks the most is that the previous novel, the one that was erased, could have been a best seller, winning me a Pulitzer. Had I been smart enough to have a better Data Storage or some type of Online Data Backup .
After a few hours of research I realized that I didn’t just have to back everything up on a disc to make sure they didn’t go down if my computer did. As an alternative , I found the notion of online Data Storage, which appeared to be the most favorable Data storage. It essentially works similar to what it sounds. You go through a Online Data Backup company and they install a program that backs everything up online. That way even if something happens to your computers, all your data’s waiting for you out there on the web. Amazing , isn’t it? Online Data Backup! The idea is lifesaving .
I don’t even know when they came up with it. If only I had known of this earlier, I could have saved myself plenty of time . Losing my novel taught me the lesson that I will never forget, always back up your files even if you know nothing will happen . But learned it, I certainly did. I’ve informed my other author colleagues about it and attempted to get them to get this right away. This is not a laughing matter . This is the best Emergency Backup for computer data I’ve ever seen . All writers should utilize it .
